When Every Problem Looks Unbeatable
September was a rough month. I wasn't doing the things I should have been doing. I was slacking, inconsistent, and just all over the place. However, it led me to one question: When we fall, how do we have confidence we will return stronger?
Sometimes it felt like the worst is always the worst. I personally even forgot the foundation of my life. Every problem looked unbeatable.
Then I read a group of powerful verses, Micah 7:8-10. A group of verses I had personally looked over, but somehow they became very important in this season.
Micah Says It Plainly
The verses read (BSB):
8 "Do not gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will arise; though I sit in darkness, the LORD will be my light. 9 Because I have sinned against Him, I must endure the rage of the LORD, until He argues my case and executes justice for me. He will bring me into the light; I will see His righteousness. 10 Then my enemy will see and will be covered with shame— she who said to me, 'Where is the LORD your God?' My eyes will see her; at that time she will be trampled like mud in the streets."
These verses are so powerful because Micah isn't describing an Israel that can't admit it has fallen. In fact, he states it plainly. The flip side is Micah having the confidence to say, I will arise.
Just for someone reading this who may not be in the best place: there is room for you to know that you will rise. Room for you to remember what God called you to.
Not by Our Own Strength
It reminds me of one of Paul's writings in 1 Corinthians 10:13: "No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide an escape, so that you can stand up under it."
And the beauty of this is that we rise not because of our own strength, but because the strength of Jesus is more powerful than any mountain. We may be struggling with certain things. Trying to figure it out on our own. But can we put our trust in the One who walks before us? The things we are facing in this current moment, or any moment to come, aren't there to tear us down, but to strengthen us.
We can be in a place where we admit that we aren't where we want to be, and still know that we will rise. Still know that we will see the righteousness of God.
Not the End of the Story
It is powerful to say, I know I haven't been where I need to be. I know I been living in sin. I know I have fallen. But it's even more powerful when you know that it isn't the end of the story. Barely even half of it.
I hit a point where I fell. Where I was ready to give up on what God called me to start. Probably a lot of people even thought Spoken Guidance had a quick start and a quick end. But they don't know the God I serve. Hard times don't make me quit, but they equip me for what God is calling me to do.
I just hope someone reading this may get that same excitement. That your story isn't over yet.
God bless
To the ends of the earth,
Isaiah Abraham
